Invitation to MBN Facilitator Training
This opportunity is extended to health clinicians who have experience with supporting mothers and infants (0-8 months) and have an interest and capacity to deliver MBN (under supervision). This 3-day training is the beginning of an ongoing learning process in reflective relationship-focussed group work, so a commitment to ongoing supervision, professional development and model fidelity is required. A background in psychotherapeutic perinatal and infant mental health practice is highly beneficial but not essential, especially for those working outside the metro area. Facilitated by Elaine Cumber and Sharon Cooke Places limited - with priority given to those with capacity for program delivery MBN group is delivered by not-for-profit and government organisations, free to families, thanks to government grant funding. In most cases the service funded to provide MBN pays for the training as part of the funding agreement. MBN is a training organisation and does not employ facilitators and as such, cannot guarantee employment should you complete this course without being employed by a service delivering MBN. We welcome clinicians willing to participate for their own professional development or with the intent to secure future employment with a MBN service provider. Please be aware that MBN training content is a licenced copyrighted product that cannot be copied, on-sold, reproduced, or altered without written permission by MBN Owner, and the program cannot be delivered without a service provider agreement with MBN. Participants will be engaged in reflective processes, with careful attention placed on the content and pace of each session to give room for deeper learning. Participants will build their knowledge and skills incrementally, commencing with an evidence-based rationale, model description and theory of change. This will be followed by observing its application, viewing film footage of groups in action. On day three participants will have the opportunity to take turns experiencing the group process as participants as well as facilitators. Critical to the role of the MBN Facilitator, participants will be invited to reflect on the range of personal and interpersonal processes (observations, thoughts, feelings, experiences) that are elicited by the material, in particular, noticing countertransference as a way of feeling into what the infant might be experiencing.
